The community consists of small towns with all the support amenities one needs to live comfortably. When you need that fancy purse or a set of new golf clubs you are but minutes away from shopping areas. We are fortunate to have Interstates I-26 and I-85 cross though our area and one can be in downtown Asheville, NC or Greenville, SC in 45 minutes. The closest shopping mall is in north Spartanburg - just 15 minutes away.
The area is serviced by two airports. GSP (Greenville/ Spartanburg) and the Asheville Airport both 30 minute drives. Charlotte NC is the closet major hub airport and is 90 minutes away.
Local commerce consists mainly of family owned small businesses and shops. There are no large industrial centers. Our area is well known as one of the better equine areas in the country, and our largest economic source is derived from the horse/farm support services group.
Columbus has Saint Luke's Hospital which can meet most all medical needs. The largest medical complex in the state of North Carolina is located in Asheville, and there are two hospitals which support Spartanburg.
Who lives and moves to our area? Well if you were lucky enough to be born and raised here you most likely will stay, and those that are moving here are an eclectic sort moving from various parts of the country. All come for the quality of life, the climate, the abundant opportunities to enjoy what nature has to offer, and the small town atmosphere. Those with horses come to take advantage of our miles of trails, training facilities, fox hunting, and show grounds. I jokingly tell my clients that if you move here you most likely will leave feet first.
